About A.V.A. Ballet Theatre.

Executive Director, Alexander Van Alstyne, founded A.V.A. Ballet Theatre in 1994. The company's mission is to be the premiere ballet company in northern Nevada, while giving performing opportunities of a professional caliber to children, adults and dance artists.  A.V.A. serves a geographically widespread and diverse community consisting of northern Nevada and parts of northern California.

Auditions for A.V.A. productions are open and available to all ages and levels of artists. With its high level of professionalism, A.V.A. is able to offer talented dancers and artists the opportunity to perform in roles usually reserved for professionals. Dancers aspiring to a professional career are given the proper guidance and preparation from our experienced faculty.

Our Artistic Director:

Mr. Van Alstyne has been dancing since the age of eight in Salt Lake city, Utah, and received full scholarship to the University of Utah. At 15 he began dancing professionally with companies such as Ballet West, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet and Utah Ballet. He moved to Reno, Nevada, in 1988, for "Hello Hollywood Hello" at Bally's and has been teaching in the community and at the University of Nevada, Reno for the past 12 years. As a result of his experience in Reno, Mr. Van Alstyne was inspired to create A.V.A. Ballet Theatre.
